RMF 2008

From small acorns...
The Rudgwick Music Festival (RMF) was started by Peter Fancourt (still actively involved) during the summer of ‘93 in his back garden. It remained there up until 1996 when Peter realised that a new site with more room and better access was needed. So in 1997 the RMF moved to the Thurlow Arms Public House in Rudgwick. During the next three years the festival enjoyed a continued increase in public attendence, until it became obvious that another move to even larger premises was inevitable. And so, in 2000, with the help of the Springbok charities, the RMF relocated in Alfold, which has proved to be a first-class venue. Since 1997 over 9,000 people have attended and enjoyed the festival – raising (to date) in excess of £50,000 for local charities!

The money raised from the RMF is donated to local charities and/or organisations:

Chestnut Tree House
Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county. The hospice provides a 'home from home' environment with 10 children's bedrooms plus 8 family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool.

Springbok Merchant Seamen's War Memorial Society
The Society was established in 1920 after it was recognised that there was a need to provide help for merchant seafarers. In 1947 Sachel Court in Alfold, Surrey, became the new home of the society, now named Springbok. Today the society continues to offer support to seafarers, including those from the Royal Navy and Fishing Fleets.

A deserving group; they have been assisting us in many areas since the start of the RMF.
